Cornerstones - Rebranding a Non-profit

Non-profit Organization Reston Interfaith, Now Cornerstones, Turned to Katalyst Creative Group to Implement New Name, New Branding

After 43 years in its existence, the board of directors at Reston Interfaith voted to change their name and rebrand the organization as Cornerstones. Katalyst Creative Group (KCG) was called upon to coordinate the new marketing materials, design and develop their new website, and setup appropriate website security measures. Abby Kimble, Director of Outreach and Communications stated, "We trusted Katalyst Creative Group to provide a website that would help Reston Interfaith convey a really big change for the organization - a new name."

KCG designed and developed a custom WordPress template (enabling the content from the existing website to be easily migrated). To keep up with current technology, KCG designed the site using a mobile-friendly, responsive design, so that users on iPhones, iPads, smart phones and tablets would be able to easily access and use the site. The website also features a custom image rotator, intuitive drop-down navigation, and spots for videos. It also integrates multiple opportunities to interact with Cornerstones in social networks.

Kimble remarked, "Knowing that Katalyst Creative Group had helped us before with issues with our last website -- a website they did not create -- we knew they would be the best company to create a creative and innovative looking website and most of all set-up a secure content management system."

The site was designed with multiple spots for rotating imagery, allowing the staff to build and display a large library of photographs. "The content management system is easy to use and many staff members are able to make changes quickly and with little effort," Kimble said. The photos on the website reveal the depth and breadth of programs Cornerstones manages that reach out into all areas in the local community.

Kimble added, "Katalyst Creative Group is engaged in the community advocating for those in need and we knew their passion to improve the greater good matches with our organization mission to help people build more stable lives and help people become self-sufficient." Dorothy Banzon of KCG said, "It's very rewarding to work with the team at Cornerstones. The work they do impacts so many people with immediate needs that could be living right here in my own neighborhood. This made it imperative for KCG to deliver solutions that not only worked well both technically and visually, but gave Cornerstones the ability to do their job faster and better.”

The KCG team created signage, stationery, and templates for product sheets and fliers. They also prepared logo files for the many product extensions and services that Cornerstones provides. At Cornerstones' request, all of the collateral was supplied as editable files that the non-profit could manage internally. It was very important to the staff at Cornerstones to keep the materials fluid in order to be able to react to changing needs of the communities they serve.

Kimble sums up her experience, "The Katalyst team was available night and day to make sure the job got done correctly, on time, and within our budget. Their customer service and responsiveness is exceptional."
